The land, buildings, capital assets and investments of Shalom Court are administered by the Auckland Jewish Aged Home Trust Board.

The Management Committee that manages the day-to-day operations of the rest home is elected at the Annual General Meeting by the membership of Shalom Court Auckland Incorporated Society (see FOSCA).  The current President is Mrs Margot Hart MNZM, JP.

The services of all Trust Board and Committee members are offered voluntarily.

Between monthly meetings, members of the committee are actively involved in the lives of the residents through on-site duties that include but are not limited to:

    Welcoming and farewelling of residents and staff;

Organisation of in-house and community events;

Resident advocacy and resident meetings;

Education and observance of Jewish  customs and practices;

Celebration of Jewish festivals;

Membership newsletters;

Grounds maintenance, landscaping and floral arrangements;

Fundraising for capital items; and

The annual staff party.

Administrative matters such as employment contracts and performance appraisal, negotiation of contracts with the DHB and the statement of accounts are also handled by voluntary committee members.

This “hands-on” management style results in direct and personal relationships between the residents, their families, staff and the management team. It also facilitates open communication, transparency and effective and timely decision-making.

The high visibility of the management team allows residents and staff to share thoughts, initiate change and influence outcomes that make a better home and working environment respectively.
